JESS HORSLEY REFLECTS AFTER BIG WIN AGAINST SUNDERLAND

18 March 2024

The Reds' Head Coach watched on with pride as the girls blasted their promotional rivals aside at Oakwell on Sunday afternoon.

A 4-1 hammering of Sunderland West End on Sunday maintained Barnsley's title ambitions with a performance that saw Jess Horsley immensely satisfied after a two-week layoff.

"It was a great start to the game scoring in the first two minutes." Jess told us after the game.

"We should have really gone in at the break two or three up but we were not clinical enough in front of goal.

"In the second half we were too slow to get back into the game which allowed Sunderland to get one back. This gave the girls a wake up call, they picked up their game, picked up their quality and Kirstie was able to get her hat-trick."

MATCH REPORT

The Reds are just a point behind the league leaders, Wallsend and we are back on home soil this coming Sunday when entertaining Redcar at 2pm.

Horsley feels that momentum is building and hopes to see another good turnout of fans to help the girls push on in their quest for promotion.

"A really positive result and one that keeps us putting pressure on the top of the table.

"It was great to get another good crowd down to watch us at home, hopefully we see even more here next Sunday with the men not playing now."
