HARRISON NEJMAN POST-WIGAN

17 March 2022

Captaining our U18s side to a 2-0 victory away to Wigan Athletic on Tuesday afternoon, Harrison Nejman gave his thoughts on a victory that secured consecutive wins for the young Reds.

“It was a good performance from the lads,” Nejman declared. “First half we were a bit off it but then we came out in the second half, more aggressive, higher up the pitch, landing on more second balls and I think that changed the game really.

Clean sheets are important. It shows that the whole team is working together whereas a goal could just be one or two people. A clean sheet shows a lot of togetherness in the group, and I think that’s a good thing.”

Nejman has broken into our U23s side this campaign as well as being heavily involved with Tom Harban’s U18s, and on a personal note is pleased with how his season has gone so far.

“Personally, I think it’s going well,” Nejman remarked. “I’m starting pretty much every game for the U18s and being involved with the U23s on some occasions. So, a positive season so far but hopefully we’ll keep on building it until the end.”

Our U18s currently lie in third place in the Professional Development League, and with the top two qualifying for the play-offs at the end of the season, Nejman and the team have high aspirations for the rest of this term.

“The aim has got to be to win it,” declared the young skipper. “We’d be happy with the top two but by the end of the season I think if we’re not in that situation then I think we’ll be disappointed with how the season has finished.

“We’re in a good position now, near the top of the table so I think if we carry on getting these types of results, we’ll only get higher up the table.”
