James Bree Becomes Second Youngest Reds Player

13 May 2014

Reds youngster James Bree became the second youngest ever player to feature for Barnsley, when he came on against QPR for the Reds' last match of the season.

At 16 years and 143 days old, Bree entered the field of play against Harry Redknapp's side in the 73rd minute.

The record holder for the youngest ever Reds player is Reuben Noble-Lazarus at just 15 years and 45 days, when he deputised against Ipswich in September 2008.

This now means that three of the top five youngest ever players are still all currently Barnsley players, with midfielder Paul Digby in at number five.

James is set to start his two-year Academy scholarship from next season, but has already penned a professional deal at Oakwell back in February.

Top Five Youngest Barnsley Players

3. Alan Ogley - 16 years 226 days
