Commenting on Chris Hutchings appointment Danny Wilson said, “Chris has been a friend and confidant over many years since playing together. Chris has done very well with clubs at all levels that he has worked at.
“His experience will be invaluable as we go into the final ten games of the season and I am delighted that he has come to help us out.”
Hutchings, who started his senior playing career for Chelsea before moving to Brighton and then Huddersfield Town, made over 500 appearances as a defender including time at Walsall and Rotherham.
He worked as assistant manager to Chris Kamara and then with Paul Jewell at Bradford City enjoying double promotion from the Second Division to the Premier League.
Hutchings has also worked as assistant manager at Premier League Wigan Athletic before going to Derby County and more recently Ipswich Town.
