Barnsley Players On International Duty.

17 March 2017

We can confirm the Barnsley players that have been called up to represent their nations.

Tom Bradshaw’s fine form since the turn of the year has seen him continue to be involved in Chris Coleman’s Wales side. The Wales Head Coach has continued to pick Bradshaw who has scored eight EFL Sky Bet Championship goals this term, becoming a key figure in the Barnsley attack.

Adam Armstrong continues his rise through the England set-up and receives a call-up to the England U20s side. The on-loan forward has impressed during his time with the national side at all youth levels, with 28 goals in his 41 appearances, including five in his last five U20s games.

Marley Watkins has been placed on the stand-by list for Wales by Chris Coleman. The Barnsley attacker has been an influential part of the Reds line-up this campaign and his impressive form has been recognised.

Tom Bradshaw was delighted to receive another Wales call up and said, “It’s a proud day for myself and my family. I have made my debut before every time I hear the news it is special. I know that he (Chris Coleman) came to a couple of my games but it was just as much of a surprise to me as it was anyone else.

“I had a bit of a slow start this season personally, I think it took a while for me to settle in with the move to Barnsley and get used to a different way of playing under a different manager with different coaching staff. I have really settled now though and I think as a team and Club we have done well this year.

“I think a lot of the world got behind Wales in the summer with how well the lads did and I think it was absolutely brilliant for the country and the sport. It gave the nation belief in how much of a good team we really are, I think we’re ranked 12th in the world now which is brilliant for everyone involved.”
